Course Description
Welcome to the course “United for NCD solutions – Building and Sustaining Multistakeholder and Multisectoral Collaboration to Address Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) & Improve Mental Health.”
Noncommunicable diseases or NCDs are a major public health and development challenge, resulting in over 70% of global deaths each year. While cost-effective, evidence-based, and feasible interventions, including the World Health Organization (WHO) ‘Best Buys’ and other recommended interventions, exist, they are often not being fully implemented. A key reason is that many of these interventions require action across sectors, which can be very challenging to undertake.
In response to country demand, WHO teamed up with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2021 to create this very practical online course.
The goal of the course is to help participants develop exceptional leadership and critical thinking skills, and provide the tools and competencies needed to work across sectors and stakeholders in challenging public health settings, particularly in low-and middle-income countries, in order to scale up action towards the Sustainable Development Goal target 3.4 and universal health coverage.
This United for NCD Solutions Online Course has been developed by the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health as a capacity development tool commissioned by and in consultation with the World Health Organization (WHO) Global NCD Platform. The content developed for the Course is for authorized WHO Global NCD Platform use only, not to be used or further distributed without prior authorization from the WHO Global NCD Platform.
